El Presidente Posted April 3, 2022 Posted April 3, 2022 EAR (email assistance required). This one is a classic agony aunt Have a crack at the poll and let's see if we can determine the lie of the land. "......thanks for putting up with my page of drivel so far but the question i am asking (and please ask forum members) is this. "How many partners are truly supportive of their cigar habit?" After 10 years of pretending to be happy and supportive of my cigar love affair, my partner now tells me she hated it all along and it was one of the many reasons for our separation. Holy smokes!" 2
Popular Post Nevrknow Posted April 3, 2022 Popular Post Posted April 3, 2022 Mine likes the smell but started complaining about storage for those and all my blades. The solution? Fixing to build a new house with a closet humidor and a built in the wall knife display. Win win! 👍🏻 6

My wife loves wine, so I got her a new wine fridge and have deliveries as often as I have of cigars. Then I started a cigar bar business on the side, so cigar deliveries are… for the side hustle… 😉… so having a growing stockpile … I can pin it on that. Popular Post NSXCIGAR Posted April 3, 2022 Popular Post Posted April 3, 2022 Unless the spouse smokes as well or cigars bring in a lot of money, very, very few. The rest would be what I would consider tolerant. 6

She decides on everything else in the house which is fine with me. She has exquisite taste. 👍🏻 But the garage is mine, so there’s that. 😂😂 2 4
Popular Post Meklown Posted April 4, 2022 Popular Post Posted April 4, 2022 It sounds like the typical situation during separation where they blame everything under the sun except for themselves. Suddenly they hate everything about the other including exactly the things they loved before. To answer the original question, fortunately for me, she doesn't just "occasionally" smoke with me; she actually smokes more than me 🤣 9
Popular Post Edicion Posted April 4, 2022 Popular Post Posted April 4, 2022 As of lately, I've been told off a few times not to smoke too many of the "investments" Trying to figure out who gave her this ridiculous idea. 6
Popular Post HarveyBoulevard Posted April 4, 2022 Popular Post Posted April 4, 2022 I got into cigars as a result of hanging out with her father. She does not smoke them and does not particularly like the smell but she is an angel. She never says a thing unless I try to slip her the tongue after a cigar She knows exactly how many I have and their value and supports my hobby. I know she'd rather I take up jogging but she gets my need to unwind and gives me the space to enjoy a cigar every evening after I bathe the kids and get them set for bed for the night. I suspect that cigars are just the low hanging fruit to blame a separation or divorce especially if it was never mentioned beforehand as a 'problem'. 7
MattxG Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 My girlfriend doesn't "like" cigars, but she is supportive of my hobby. I doubt she'll ever have a full cigar, but she'll take a puff off mine occasionally. The building she lives in tolerates smoking and she smokes in her apartment so she allows me to smoke cigars at her place. As for the hobby aspect of it, the other day she commented that she wishes she could find a hobby she could really get into like cigars. I will say, like I suspect the guy who emailed you is experiencing, the only times she's given me crap about it is when there is something else going on that she's upset over. 1
jakebarnes Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 My wife is fairly supportive. Always wants to try a puff or two when I am having one. She actually enjoys being around when I open the coolidor to get a whiff that rich smell that rushes out. She tends to enjoy the smell (of old world cigars--does NOT care for new world cigars and shower is required before bed). Mainly though, we have an agreement--all things in moderation. Balancing enjoyment of endurance sports with an enjoyment of rich foods, cigars and a wine collection is just that--balancing. Vices in moderation the most. 2
Huckleberry Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 I always refer to them as investments when they are delivered. She has started to ask why I keep smoking all the investments. She is a smart one, but I have a nice smile so it works. 2

canadianbeaver Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 We smoke a nice cigar together everyday. He likes Cohiba. I am Ramon Allones. Difference is he likes wine, I like whiskey. But then in whiskies, he likes Scotch, I like bourbon. In Scotch, I call him Peat. I prefer Speyside. It is always interesting😎 CB 2 2
djrey Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 When my fiancé and I met I was already smoking cigars. Went to school 5 minutes from JR in Burlington NC, some of you may know it. She would go with me on occasion to have a cigar. Nothing has changed in 10 years and we still have the occasional cigar together. The hobby is fully supported. 1
Cigar Surgeon Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 When I started dating my wife, then girlfriend, I was clear from the start that cigars were an important hobby and lifestyle to me and that it was very few of my 'take it or leave it' conditions. She gets really uncomfortable around smoke, but we found out interestingly enough, that when we've been in Mexico or Cuba she found the aroma to be very pleasant and not at all off putting. When we're in Calgary she can smell my cigar from more than a block away and most of the time it's quite strong and off putting. It works for us. She does give me a healthy ribbing when a new package of cigars comes in "running low?", but it's all good natured.
joeypots Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 My wife came around after about five years of cigar smoking. I can smoke in our house and she's OK if I put a fan in the window. I think she likes the aroma of cigar smoke. I knew she was the best when we had a dinner party and a woman was shocked when she found out I smoked in the house. My wife told her it's his house too. 2
Chibearsv Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 My wife is definitely in the middle group. I think she hates the smoke but she knows how much I enjoy it so she lets me smoke in peace. If I'm in the garage like I have been since November, she just lights a couple candles in the house (which I can't stand) but that makes her happy. Compromise, it works!
Chas.Alpha Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 My wife is being fairly insistent that if I make the herf in Miami she’ll be coming along, if that answers the poll question... 😔 1

She just call's it "Scott's Spot" since that's where I'm parked when I'm home in the summer, but a co-worker got me a very cool wooden sign that say's "Scott's Cigarden" that I'm going to hang up out there. Can't wait for warm weather! I'll bet you are too since you've got to be sick of smoking in the Carhartt's or snow pants.
Chibearsv Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 2 hours ago, Heels82 said: F#n A. That is awesome! Your co-worker needs a raise! I think you need a "Scotty's Spot" segment. If the Cigar Jesus comes there @JohnS, it might be a shrine your wife will never understand. 😂 LOL - If Cigar Jesus made an appearance here, the pilgrimage that might show up to our shrine every year could throw her over the edge. With or without cigars 😁 1 1
Boxer31 Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 Wife can tell right away if I am smoking cc or nc. She had a friend over and was even defending the cc smell when they came out on the deck. Of course I did not say a word and kept quiet!!!
